Dopo lunghe riflessioni, così mi posso presentare come: “creatore di forme”.
Creo forme per l’arte in quanto oggetti unici e irripetibili da… contemplare, creo forme per l’industria del design riproducibili serialmente, da usare e… contemplare.
La fonte delle mie creazioni è basata essenzialmente sulla curiosità e ricerca dei materiali, delle tecnologie di lavorazione, e come un maestro d’orchestra, o come un cuoco, metto insieme gli elementi, i musicisti, gli ingredienti. Se individuo un’armonia un gusto nuovo, proseguo nel tenerli insieme, e dall’idea-progetto prende vita tra le mie mani, un oggetto, un prototipo, che può trasformarsi in scala industriale o restare solo un unico prezioso oggetto!
Per il collezionista, per l’architetto, per l’industriale, invento con la trasparente e disinvolta consapevolezza di procurare piacere all’uomo che “sfrutterà” la mia creazione, come meglio crede. E aggiungo che il mio compito è svolto con il criterio di inventare, per renderti libero, non per crearti una nuova dipendenza dall’oggetto, costringendoti con messaggi subliminali, a identificarti con esso, e di conseguenza a soffrire se non lo “possiedi”. L’identificazione, non importa con cosa o con chi, se persone od oggetti, talvolta emozioni, è la vera malattia del nostro secolo, e molti “creativi” in ogni settore, cavalcano volentieri questo malessere per il solo scopo di trarne profitto!
Obiettivamente, siamo circondati da un mare d’oggetti inutili, frivoli e sovente cari, che forniscono piaceri di breve durata, perché privi di poesia di un’anima, privi di un vero valore, se non quello del consumo veloce, compulsivo, del…usa e getta; consumo del quale, nonostante presti attenzione, sono purtroppo anch’io un contribuente!
Ed è proprio da questa consapevolezza, che nel mio lavoro di “creativo” non invento droghe, veleni, immondizia!
After long reflection, I can now define myself with the title: “creator of shapes”.
I create artistic shapes as unique and unrepeatable objects which are just to be … contemplated, I also create shapes that can be reproduced for manufacture in the design industry, which can be both used and … contemplated.
The inspiration for my creations comes essentially from curiosity, research into materials, and processing techniques; and like an orchestra conductor or a chef, I bring different elements together like musicians or ingredients. When I identify a new harmony or flavour, I go on holding the elements together, and through my hands a design idea begins to take shape in an object, a prototype, which can then either be reproduced and manufactured industrially or simply remain a single precious object!
I create for the collector, the architect, manufacturer, with a frank and confident feeling that I’m bringing pleasure to people, who can then ‘exploit’ my creations as they think best. And I should add that my aim, when I work, is to invent, to liberate, not to create dependency on a new product, or manipulate people with subliminal messages so that they are made to identify with the product, and then start suffering if they can’t ‘own’ it. Whoever they may be and however thrilling they are sometimes, identifying with a person or object is one of the real diseases of the century, and many ‘creative people’ (in all sectors) have gladly jumped on this bandwagon with the sole purpose of making a profit!
We are in fact engulfed in a sea of useless and frivolous objects, often expensive, which bring us pleasure for only a short time, because they have no soul or poetic quality, no real value other than as instant gratification, the result of impulse buying, to be used and …tossed away; and unfortunately, even though I’ve given it my attention, I myself have also contributed to this type of consumption!
But it’s because of this awareness that, in my work as a ‘creative’ person, I produce no drugs, poisons, or rubbish!
